Challenge
James Timpson CEO of Timpson Group had been writing topical weekly 850 word articles in the Sunday Times Business section and had been getting great feedback. He felt the time was right to consolidate these in a book. James was looking for an experienced book designer to design and manage it. The book needed to bring the articles to life and be enhanced with illustrations. The majority of the text and newspaper cuttings would be supplied via email. The book would be a hardback 152 pages, with a contemporary feel and quality finish, to be produced within an agreed budget in time for Christmas.
Solution
Following a personal recommendation from a publishing friend Pilot were contacted to produce the book. We created design concepts based on James’s brief and supplied a detailed specification for the book to allow us to quote for the production and printing. After the book design format was agreed we restyled the book in chronological order as the articles were originally published as we came out of Covid in 2022. The book was signed off in good time to enable the production team to achieve their deadline and the books were successfully delivered in time for Christmas.
Result
James was so impressed with Pilot’s work ethic, expertise and attention to detail that he recommended another author to use us for a book to be published in 2024.
